  • 8:00am - 12:00pm : A Surveyor's Guide to NCDOT Right of Ways and Easements by Greg Brittain, PLS

This course will provide a brief history of NCDOT and its predecessor, the State Highways and Public Works Commission. In this course, we will highlight the various types of roadways that the NCDOT constructs and maintains, along with the different types of right-of-way and easements required for these roads. This course will present examples of plans, easements, and agreements that have been recorded over the years, enabling anyone to better recognize and interpret these documents of record. Overall, this course seeks to provide a better understanding of how to recognize, research, and retrace NCDOT right-of-ways, both past and present.
