Summit Design and Engineering Services, PLLC is seeking an experienced Surveyor for NCDOT projects located in Division 3 (Wilmington) and other locations in the area.

Candidate's responsibilities include:

  • Operate and maintain various surveying instruments (Trimble GPS Rover and Robot) to measure and verify construction layout on DOT projects
  • Interpret roadway and structure plans
  • Keep various project records/ reports 
  • Take field measurements of various completed items and make calculations to determine contract pay quantities

Qualifications:

Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:

The Party Chief is the individual that represents the company in the field. The Party Chief is responsible for making sure that the crew and equipment are ready for the next assignment. 2. Survey Project Manager – Charlotte, NC

We are currently seeking an experienced Survey Project Manager for our Charlotte, NC office.

The Survey Project Manager is responsible for the successful management of assigned projects and the penetration of assigned client accounts. Responsible for marketing and client development, technical quality, profitability, schedule, project staff coordination, client communications, proposal preparation, negotiating scopes and fees, billing, client follow-up maintenance and assistance in collection of fees when required. The Survey Project Manager must maintain superior relationships with each of his/her clients and cross-sell Timmons Group services which fall outside of his/her direct professional expertise. An ability to manage several mid-sized projects, multiple small projects or a single larger project simultaneously is required. The successful candidate will manage/perform design related surveying projects using relevant office software, modeling and CADD technology. The survey project manager is expected to perform calculations using surveying formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems. Ongoing communication with the Group Leader, clients, staff and internal design team is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Reviews rough sketches, drawings, specifications and other survey data received from surveying field staff. Interprets field and engineering data in order to effectively and efficiently complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to create field point plots and computations for construction staking for various types of construction projects including utilities infrastructure, roadways and curb, buildings, and all other proposed site improvements.
  • Complete detailed drawings from sketches, plans, specifications and written/verbal instructions using computer-aided drafting programs, (Civil 3D/AutoCAD 13).
  • Plots maps and charts showing profiles and cross-sections, indicating relation of topographical contours and elevations to various site improvements.
  • Develops detailed drawings of structures and installations such as buildings, roads, culverts, fresh water supply, sewage disposal systems and dikes.
  • On occasion, accompanies survey crew in field to locate grading markers or to collect data required for creation of construction drawings and maps.
  • Works cooperatively with other CAD technicians and/or engineers to complete assigned work.

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

2. CAD Technician - Lumberton, NC 

We are looking for a CAD Technician to join our Engineering Services group.  This candidate will contribute to the team through the production of civil engineering drawings and design calculations for site and land development projects, water main design, sanitary sewer design, water and wastewater treatment plant drawings, GPS data collection and downloads. 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:  3 to 5 years

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:  Two-year Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or AutoCAD drafting.  3-5 years’ land development work, water and sewer experience preferred, entry level considered.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience with AutoCAD, CAD standards and Excel.

Geospatial Field/Office Technician
ESP Associates, P.A. is currently seeking applications for experienced and entry-level candidates for its geospatial teams in our corporate office in Fort Mill, SC (south Charlotte, NC), Raleigh NC, and Wilmington NC. This position is an opportunity to gain a range of training and experience by working with different groups on a variety of geospatial, GIS, and survey projects in an exciting and fast-paced environment. We are looking for self-motivated and goal-oriented individuals who are interested in both field data collection and office production work and are also excited about new technology, unique projects, and possible travel opportunities. This position will involve working on projects including aerial, terrestrial, and mobile LiDAR, UAV, field data collection, and Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) for transportation, water resources and municipal inventory projects, and geodetic control surveys.
 
Associate degree or higher in geography, geospatial technology, GIS, surveying technology/geomatics, or related field is preferred but not required. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microstation Geopak, and ESRI ArcMap is preferred.Any experience with conventional survey & GPS equipment is a plus. In addition, candidate must be reliable, able to work well with peers and managers in a team environment, and possess good communication skills.

Survey Manager is needed for oversight of surveying projects for the Charlotte Metro area. This position will be based in Charleston, SC.

Responsibilities:
Responsible charge of all aspects of a surveying and geomatics group (field and office) consisting of several field crews and supporting technical staff involved with public and private sector land improvement projects. Initiate and maintain contact with key personnel and officials of organizations and companies. Plan, organize and supervise survey crews, technicians and other staff members. Administer contracts and manage projects, interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments. Schedule and assign work to meet completion date. Plan and develop surveying projects with unique or controversial problems, explore subject area, investigate and develop novel concepts and approaches.
 
Requirements:

Survey Crew Chief
ESP has immediate openings for experienced Survey Crew Chief in our Cornelius, NC office location.
Essential duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include, but are not limited to:
o Oversees the day to day field survey operations to provide accurate data for boundary/ALTA, topographic, construction staking, utility as-built and wetland surveys.
o Oversees and trains individuals to operate Trimble robotic total stations, GPS and data collectors and other survey equipment for use in the collection of survey data.
o Responsible for establishing control and performing construction stakeout as well as storing stakeout data.
o Provides clear and concise field notes (including sketches).
o Good written and verbal communication skills required.
o Oversees daily maintenance of survey equipment, supplies and vehicle.
o Candidate must be able to work in a team environment, and also be willing to work independently as needed.
Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include, but are not limited to:
o High school diploma/GED and 4 to 6 years of field survey experience.
