Duties
The Survey Manager is accountable for the successful management of assigned projects. Experience
Candidate must be a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in North Carolina. The Party Chief is the individual that represents the company in the field. The Party Chief is responsible for making sure that the crew and equipment are ready for the next assignment. Survey CADD Technician will assist technically with Land Development, Transportation and Construction related projects. Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following: Keep up with current technology and changes to the programs being used. Keep up with current CAD standards. Process field collected data for projects utilizing CAiCE, TDS, Geopak Survey, and/or GPS processing software. Perform calculations and drafting services utilizing Geopak/Microstation or Civil 3D. 2. Survey Project Manager – Charlotte, NC

We are currently seeking an experienced Survey Project Manager for our Charlotte, NC office.

The Survey Project Manager is responsible for the successful management of assigned projects and the penetration of assigned client accounts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Reviews rough sketches, drawings, specifications and other survey data received from surveying field staff. Interprets field and engineering data in order to effectively and efficiently complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to create field point plots and computations for construction staking for various types of construction projects including utilities infrastructure, roadways and curb, buildings, and all other proposed site improvements.
  • Complete detailed drawings from sketches, plans, specifications and written/verbal instructions using computer-aided drafting programs, (Civil 3D/AutoCAD 13).
  • Plots maps and charts showing profiles and cross-sections, indicating relation of topographical contours and elevations to various site improvements.
  • Develops detailed drawings of structures and installations such as buildings, roads, culverts, fresh water supply, sewage disposal systems and dikes.
  • On occasion, accompanies survey crew in field to locate grading markers or to collect data required for creation of construction drawings and maps.
  • Works cooperatively with other CAD technicians and/or engineers to complete assigned work.
  • Proactively seeks input and clarification from other employee’s assigned to given project in order to minimize time spent in performing the essential duties of the position.
  • Check assigned work to ensure accuracy and quality.

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • A bachelor’s degree in surveying/engineering or a scientific area and/or equivalent work experience and professional registration (L.S., P.E., etc.) in one or more states in which Timmons Group conducts business is preferred.

2. CAD Technician - Lumberton, NC 

We are looking for a CAD Technician to join our Engineering Services group.  This candidate will contribute to the team through the production of civil engineering drawings and design calculations for site and land development projects, water main design, sanitary sewer design, water and wastewater treatment plant drawings, GPS data collection and downloads. 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:  3 to 5 years

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:  Two-year Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or AutoCAD drafting.  3-5 years’ land development work, water and sewer experience preferred, entry level considered.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience with AutoCAD, CAD standards and Excel. 

Duties include, but are not limited to:  Development of master plan/infrastructure schematic and detailed technical drawings from sketches.  To assist with the design of water and sewer mains, mass grading, roadway vertical design, erosion control, permit submittals and storm drainage.  Plan/Profile drawings and utility conflict resolution.  Plan production is a critical role of this position. Assist with the creation of utility enabling packages in conjunction with mechanical utilities.  Candidates should be prepared to provide work samples.

Essential duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the day to day field survey operations to provide accurate data for boundary/ALTA, topographic, construction staking, utility as-built and wetland surveys. Oversees and trains individuals to operate Trimble robotic total stations, GPS and data collectors and other survey equipment for use in the collection of survey data.
  • Responsible for establishing control and performing construction stakeout as well as storing stakeout data.
  • Provides clear and concise field notes (including sketches). Good written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Oversees daily maintenance of survey equipment, supplies and vehicle.
  • Candidate must be able to work in a team environment, and also be willing to work independently as needed.

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include, but are not limited to:

  • High school diploma/GED and 4-6 years of field survey experience.
